An Opportunity for your Organization

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the American National Standards Institute (ASNI) have created an opportunity to bring together private industry, governmental organizations, law enforcement, technology providers and standards developers to fight fraud across multiple industry segments.

International Interest on Fraud Solutions Standards

ISO has recently approved a proposal by ANSI for the creation of a Technical Committee on "Fraud Countermeasures and Controls". This committee will be recognized as ISO TC 247. At the present time 18 nations have expressed an interest in participating or observing in this committee's work.

United States Technical Advisory Group

The United States is forming a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of experts in the areas of brand protection, counterfeiting, identity fraud/identity management, and financial fraud. A broad spectrum of experts will have an opportunity to interface on a subject that costs the world's economies billions of dollars and creates an unquantifiable level of social consequences from loss of legitimate jobs to loss of life.

The TAG will consist of representatives of organizations such as yours. They will provide input to the work being done by this group. They will also develop the position of the United States to any standards being developed by other nations. From this TAG will be drawn the United States representatives to ISO TC 247.

In addition the U.S. TAG will also provide guidance and input into the development of PC 246 "Performance requirements for anti-counterfeiting tools", ISO standard 12931.

NASPO's Role

The North American Security Products Organization (NASPO), a non-profit standards development organization, has been delegated by ANSI the role of Secretariat to ISO TC 247 and the United States TAG Administrator.

NASPO has the responsibility to develop, administer, and fund the operations of both the Untied States Technical Advisory Group and the ISO Technical Committee 247, "Fraud Countermeasures and Controls".

The support and involvement of organizations that are faced with the consequences of fraud, or provide solutions to the issues, are important to the development of this critical international initiative.

If you have any questions about the US TC 247 or would like to discuss sponsorship or membership in the TC, please feel free to contact NASPO and we will do our best to answer your needs.
